Die SMART8 Remote ist eine WLAN-Fernsteuerung am Smartphone für Super-8 und 16-mm-Filmkameras. Einfach den Arduino-Code auf ein ESP32-Board laden und anschließend alles präzise und kabellos per Smartphone-Browser als Fernbedienung steuern – ohne App.
Keine Installation am Smartphone oder Umbau der Kamera erforderlich!

Die SMART8 Remote ermöglicht eine digitale Steuerung Deiner Super 8 Kamera, ohne ihren analogen Charakter zu beeinflussen. Mit dieser Fernbedienung ist kein Eingriff oder Umbau der Super 8 Kamera notwendig. Alles wird ganz klassisch über die Remote-Buchse, (i.d.R. 2,5 mm Klinkenstecker), geregelt, an der sonst das herömmliche Auslösekabel mit analogem Schiebeschalter angeschlossen wird. Über so eine Buchse sollte die Kamera natürlich verfügen, um mit der SMART8 Remote arbeiten zu können.
Mit einem präzisen Fernauslöser eröffnen sich neue Möglichkeiten für Zeitraffer, Stop-Motion und experimentelle Filmsequenzen, der die analogen Funktionen Deiner Filmkamera mit flexiblen Timer-Einstellungen und einem Bildzähler ergänzt.
Durch den Timer, Bildzähler und präzise Start/Stop-Befehle ist diese Fernbedienung eine optimale Unterstützung für bildgenaues Arbeiten bei Stop-Motion-Projekten und gleichmäßigen Zeitraffer-Aufnahmen, die per Timer auch punktgenau gestartet und gestoppt werden können.
Die Verbindung erfolgt per WLAN. Einstellungen wie Frequenz, Intervall, Impulslänge oder Timer lassen sich individuell anpassen – direkt im Browser Deines Smartphones.
So kann die klassische Super 8 Kamera einfach und unkompliziert in ihrer herkömmlichen Funktionsweise präzisiert werden, für bildgenaue und kreative Filmideen.
Geeignet für viele Super-8-Kameras von Bauer, Canon, Chinon, Minolta, Nikon, Sankyo, Eumig, Braun Nizo, Beaulieu u. a. — sofern die Kamera Start/Stop über einen potentialfreien Schließerkontakt (contact closure) am Remote-/Fernauslöseranschluss unterstützt (häufig 2,5-mm Klinke).
Als DIY-Projekt einfach und preiswert
Aktuell ist die SMART8 Remote nur als DIY-Projekt erhältlich. Du erhältst eine umfassende Beschreibung aller benötigten Bauteile, einen Arduino-Code, ausführliche Bauanleitung (DE & EN) und als Bonus 3D-Dateien, um ein passendes Gehäuse ausdrucken zu können, falls Du über einen 3D-Drucker verfügst. (Du kannst auch selbst eine Box aus Holz oder Kunststoff herstellen – Metall ist wegen WLAN nicht empfohlen).
Dadurch bleibt die Super 8 Fernbedienung erschwinglich und flexibel erweiterbar. Geeignete Bauteile werden auch hier auf der Seite vorgestellt und verlinkt. Alle enthaltenen Dateien sind nach Bedarf editierbar. Trotz sorgfältiger Auswahl hochwertiger elektronischer Bauteile kann die Super 8 Fernbedinung somit preisgünstig hergestellt werden.
Der Aufbau ist verständlich beschrieben und leicht umsetzbar. Es sind keine tiefgehenden Elektronikkenntnisse erforderlich.

Precise interval timer for creative film projects

The SMART8 Remote allows you to digitally control your Super 8 camera without affecting its analog nature. No modifications or alterations to the Super 8 camera are necessary with this remote. Everything is controlled via the standard remote jack (usually a 2.5 mm jack plug), where the conventional shutter release cable with an analog slide switch is normally connected. Of course, the camera must have such a jack to be compatible with the SMART8 Remote.
A precise remote shutter release opens up new possibilities for time-lapse, stop-motion and experimental film sequences, complementing the analog functions of your film camera with flexible timer settings and a frame counter.
Thanks to the timer, frame counter and precise start/stop commands, this remote control is an optimal support for image-accurate work in stop-motion projects and smooth time-lapse recordings, which can also be started and stopped with pinpoint accuracy via timer.
The connection is established via Wi-Fi. Settings such as frequency, interval, pulse length or timer can be flexibly adjusted – directly in your smartphone’s browser.
This allows the classic Super 8 camera to be easily and simply refined in its conventional functionality, for image-accurate and creative film ideas.
Suitable for many Super 8 cameras from Bauer, Canon, Chinon, Minolta, Nikon, Sankyo, Eumig, Braun Nizo, Beaulieu, etc. — provided the camera supports start/stop via a potential-free normally open contact (contact closure) on the remote release port (often a 2.5 mm jack).
Simple and inexpensive as a DIY project
Currently, the SMART8 Remote is only available as a DIY project. You’ll receive a comprehensive description of all the necessary components, Arduino code, detailed assembly instructions (in German and English), and as a bonus, 3D files to print a suitable enclosure if you have a 3D printer. (You can also make your own box from wood or plastic – metal is not recommended due to the Wi-Fi connection). This keeps the Super 8 remote affordable and easily expandable. Suitable components are also presented and linked on this page. All included files are editable as needed. Despite the careful selection of high-quality electronic components, the Super 8 remote can thus be built inexpensively. The assembly is clearly described and easy to follow. No in-depth electronics knowledge is required.
